IDFA Reframe Award
Beeld en Geluid

Every year the Institute for Sound and Vision (Beeld en Geluid) sponsors an award during IDFA, the international documentary festival in Amsterdam.

I created a short trailer for this award with the goal to entice filmmakers to make use of the media archive of Sound and Vision.

My idea was to show the ways in which we consume media from the early days until now, by focusing on the 'screens' in which we watch content from. I searched through the archive to find footage to fit the film. With a combination of film and animation I blended the old and new images.

The promo film was shown before documentaries premiering at IDFA festival from 2018 until 2020, first to promote the Dutch Documentary Award and later on the Reframe Award, with the Institute for Sound and Vision as the official sponsor.
